 Barbaric : The Long Death #1   5/5

Owen, Axe & Soren & Toro journey together to find the answers to their big questions.  Never thought barbarism and humor went so well together! Hilarious!

Absolute Batman 15 4.5/5

Absolute Joker! And Jock!  Snyder is really going for it,and it works!

Ordained #1  4/5

well, this is obviously written for a streaming mini-series,but has a good premise.

 Planet Death #2  3/5

So far a pretty simple story.  Colonial Marines invading a planet with instructions to "destroy the weapon." One survivor left to do so....

Assorted Crisis Events #6  5/5

Every time I read one of these, I can't believe it can be outdone.  But here we are.  Superb.

Escape #4  4/5

Well done analogy to WWII only with animals, as is par for the course these days.

 Viking Moon #1 5/5

Hope this continues its' greatness.  Vikings. Native Americans. And...Werewolves!

Redcoat #15  5/5

Speaking of keeping up greatness....This title has been consistently great!

Rook: Exodus 5/5

Didn't want to be an all-Image review, but hey, quality counts!  Along with Redcoat, Johns has created a line all by himself.

 Barbaric  The Black Knight #1 (one-shot)  3.5/5

If an axe can talk, why not a flail?

The Invisible Man #3  5/5

Great series! What a difference a writer makes! This was not even on my radar when it comes to Universal Monsters, but it is now!

The Pale Knight #6 4/5

The wrap-up to this little miniseries...Death always wins in the end.

 Invisible Man #2  4/5

When I see Tynion on a book, that's a big tell for me. Doesn't disappoint at all.

Skinbreaker #1  4.5/5

Interesting plot and hey, I'm a sucker for David Finch art. Kirkman too!

The Unchosen #3  4/5

At first I thought this was a run-of-the-mill story about kid whose parents are killed and who is recruited into into society to fight evil, but it's more than that. Fundamental choices and instinct.

Justice League Red #2  4/5  Took a chance on this, and it's panning out.  A good use of the "we'll include everyone in the Justice League" idea.

Exquisite Corpses #5  3.5/5  Getting a  little hard to follow, but still a unique and pretty original idea about the "ruling families" (that's not original) and their "entertainment."

Conan the  Barbarian #24   3/5  A so-so Conan adventure, it does set up some future conflicts , and , as always, captures the essence of Conan well.

The War #1  5/5  This was serialized in Hello Darkness, but it's even better put together. Can't go wrong with Garth Ennis.

Ultimate Wolverine  #8  3.5/5  Having been "woken up", Logan helps find where he was imprisoned/transformed and he finds Archangel. After a slow start, this book is picking up.

News From the Fallout #2 4/5   Flashbacks of "before the bomb" intertwined with our survivor getting to a diner just outside the explosion. The story is OK, but the artwork is...interesting.

Absolute Martian Manhunter #5   2/5  Been trying to see where this is going, but going to cut it loose. A lot of critics like it, but,as weird as it is, I just can't get into it.

Space Ghost Annual #1  4/5  It's been a good year for this title, and this year-end annual is no exception. This is the format that all continuing books should adopt. A "season" approach.

Krypto, The Last Dog of Krypton  #2  3.5/5  Well, since this is the summer of Superman....  Lots of questions, but it's only issue 2.

Magik #7    Being a long-time fan of Illyana, I've been picking this up. After a slow start, it's been gaining momentum.  4/5

Lazarus Fallen #1 It's been awhile since I read Lazarus,so it took a re-reading to get myself back in Forever Carlyle's world. Glad to be back.  3.5/5

Immortal Thor #25  The "death" of Thor. Getting ready for a reboot. Still, a good read.  4/5

Blood & Thunder #2 3.5/5  Pretty entertaining, art is just OK.Still reminds me a bit of Moore's Top Ten mixed with Judge Dredd & Barbaric.

Assorted Crisis Events #4 4/5  A unique look at How Time Flies literally, all caused by a "crisis event" ala DC, although  it could be any comic book company's Big Event.

Battle Beast #2  5/5  Picked up #1 because of FOMO, and I'm glad I did. This book is a blast! I'm not really into Invincible or other Kirkman titles, but this one has me hooked!

Death of the Silver Surfer #1  3/5  Bought this because I like Greg Pak's writing. An intriguing start. If you have the power over death...?

Be Not Afraid #1 4/5 I'm a sucker for exorcist-style horror, and this did not disappoint.

 Imperial #1 3.5/5
Was going to pass on this, mostly because of cover price (6.99) but then I figured what the Hickman, so...

Pop Kills #3 4/5

Well, the Adam Hughes cover got this series some pop-fizz! (sorry) An off-beat concept, but works well.

The Thing #1 4/5 Enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. A good take on an old favorite.

Hyde Street #6 5/5  A great issue that brings together our creepy cast. Twilight Zone-type fun!

Blood and Thunder #1  4.5/5  Bought this because I saw Robert Kirkman had his name on it.  Reminded me of a cross between Top 10 and Barbaric. Good models.

We're Taking Everyone Down With Us  #2  4/5  The jury's still out on this one,but an interesting read/concept so far.

Resurrection Man #1 5/5  Taking an obscure hero from the past and turning it into a treatise on life, death, and the universe makes this more than a super-hero book.

Daredevil:Cold Day In Hell #1  5/5  Another book I picked on a recommendation. Reminiscent of Dark Knight Returns, but different enough.

  The Mummy #1  2/5
Didn't care for this, maybe it will get better. Artwork was poor, and story only slightly better. Loved the other Universal Monsters, but this one...nah.

Jumpscare #1  3.5/5  Interesting concept.  Girl can call upon any horror-movie weapon that she's seen to fight monsters.  Good enough to come back to.

We're taking Everyone Down With Us #1  4/5  Wasn't interested in this, then read a preview...A young girl discovers a side to her dad she didn't know. Is he a good guy or a bad one? Perspective?

Absolute Martian Manhunter #1  4.5/5  Another book I was going to pass on,but FOMO and good reviews got me thinking otherwise. Another Absolute re-working of a classic hereo, and it's better by far than the old edition.

Absolute Wonder Woman #6 5/5  The best of the Absolute line, although the one above is pushing it.    This issue keeps up the excellence.

Ultimate Spider-Man #14  4/5  One of the few Marvel titles I buy. Every issue is interesting to see the new take on well-known characters.

Absolute Wonder Woman #5  5/5  This series has been great and keeps getting better.

Popkill #1 5/5   Took a chance on this, and darn glad I did! A cool take on the cola wars. Very Garth Ennis. If I didn't have the credits in front of me, I would have sworn this was by him.
